The EdgeI sit at the edge of infinity.
I dip my finger in the pool of eternity.
I look around at the darkness.
But the pool beneath my finger
Lights with the incandescent glow of ages.
I pull back,
But my eyes stay on the pool.
I see the beginning of time.
The creation of the world.
I see babies in their mother's arms.
I see the sun.
I see the dragons roar,
Their open jaws filled with the fire
Only accessible by those who know
What the world truly is.
I see the building of the modern age,
The towers outstretching their iron arms
To reach the sky.
I see the end.
How did it come to this,
Me alone at the end of the world?
I would give wisdom
And knowledge endless
Just to once more feel another human touch.
EmptyRain falls heavy.
Puddles are filled.
My hair hangs limp and wet.
I continue walking,
Even as I hear the distant thunder
Over the ebbing of the tide.
My shoes sink into the clumped sand,
Stepping on sand castles from long ago.
The air whispers of despair.
But still I walk.
The pounding rain soaks to the bone.
Like an empty kind of loneliness.
I walk on.
